GammaTile Brachytherapy
You have had 1 or more GammaTile devices placed inside you during your surgery. GammaTiles have the radioactive material Cesium-131. With these in place, you should not need any more procedures. Please follow these postsurgical safety measures during the first few weeks to lower radiation exposure to family, friends, and the public.
For 4 Weeks After Surgery:
- Lessen your time in public. For example, if you are in a hotel, have food sent to your room rather than eating in restaurants.
- If you are able, do not use public transit.
- Try to stay 3 feet away from others.
- Do not be near children under 18 years old for a long time.
- Do not be near pregnant women for more than a few minutes.
If you visit a doctor, ER, or if you are admitted to a hospital during this treatment, or within 90 days (3 months) of ending this treatment, you need to tell them that you have received GammaTile therapy. You will be given a card with information that may be helpful for medical workers or transportation authorities. Keep this card with you at all times.
